How to recognise a genuine driving instructor

To legally charge for driving lessons a driving instructor must have either a pink badge (trainee) or a green badge (fully qualified) displayed in their car window. Always check the expiry date.

Either of these badges tell you that the instructor has regular Enhanced Criminal Record Checks and has passed the first two driving instructor tests. The green badge means we’ve passed the third test too and are fully qualified.
