Get your first provisional driving licence from DVLA online. Don’t use any other websites as they are agencies who will charge you more!
To apply you must:
- be at least 15 years and 9 months old (although you can’t use it to drive a car until you’re 17).
- be able to read a number plate from 20 metres away
If you already have a provisional licence (e.g moped) that is also valid for you to drive a car as a learner, see the categories on the back of your photo card.
It costs £34 to apply online. You can pay by MasterCard, Visa, Electron or Delta debit or credit card.
You’ll need to provide:
- an identity document unless you have a valid UK biometric passport
- addresses where you’ve lived over the last 3 years
- your National Insurance number if you know it

If you cancel or rearrange part or all of a driving lesson with less than 48 hours notice, You will still be liable to pay 100% of the lesson.
