On a practical driving test there is section of about 20 minutes where you’ll be asked to follow a route, either by using a satnav (the examiner brings their own satnav with them), or following signs; e.g. ‘Please follow the signs for Hatfield’. Four in five tests use a satnav, one in five follow signs.
If you go the wrong way, don’t worry, you’ll not be marked down for it, as long as what you did was safe, followed the rules of the Highway Code, was in control and didn’t inconvenience any other road users. After all, it’s not a navigation test, its a driving test! It’s just a real life distraction, the same as the ‘Show Me’ question you’re asked whilst your driving, with either the examiner wants to see that they cause you to slow, swerve or become distracted from what is going on around you.
